FORKLIFT AND MEWP SAFETY TRAINING

Mid-Ohio Material Handling has developed programs to train Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) and Mobile Elevating Work Platform (scissor and boom lift) operators and trainers.  Whether you need a small group of operators trained or a large group of trainers, we have your needs covered.  Our trainers are the best in Ohio and have years of experience.  With our training, your people will EARN the right to be called an operator or trainer and it’s a huge wake up call, they will never look at these vehicles the same way again.

Forklift Operator Training

Federal law (OSHA) mandates forklift operators be certified and that it be site and forklift specific. All our forklift operator training is conducted at your site and on your forklifts, which is the way OSHA requires.  Our training also includes a site survey to identify issues specific to your application and assist in providing greater OSHA compliance.  Our training can include sit down counterbalance, stand up reach, elevated order picker and electric pallets jacks, just to name a few of the most popular forklift types. We don’t put an expiration date on your training like many providers, so they can continue to train for you well into the future without additional expense to your company.

Mobile Elevating Work Platform Operator Training (MEWP)

The new term for scissor and boom lifts, formerly called aerial work platforms, is MEWP.  The rules for MEWP’s changed in June 2020, many new things are now required to keep operators and bystanders safe.  The most common accidents on MEWP’s are tip-over, fall, collision and electrocution and we cover them extensively during our training; as well as, the use of all protection as it applies to MEWP’s.  Our training is based on real life experiences and can help your operators improve their knowledge and make better decisions.

If you have lots of turnover, hire in small groups, have large numbers of operators or varied shift schedules then training a trainer may be a better option than training operators.  With forklift and MEWP train the trainer, we can take people from your existing staff and teach them to train your forklift and MEWP operators now and for the foreseeable future.  This provides you lots of flexibility and is very cost effective over the long term.

Forklift Train The Trainer

OSHA states “All operator training and evaluation shall be conducted by persons who have the knowledge, training, and experience to train powered industrial truck operators and evaluate their competence.”  We take this statement extremely seriously.  Our forklift trainers class is one of the few in the US which assigns homework to trainers and expects them to show a certain level of competency.  Our goal is to teach your trainers what to do, how to do it and why it’s so important to do it correctly.  Lives depend on your trainers doing their job at a high level, they are the “gate keepers” to ensure only competent operators are allowed to use your forklifts.

MEWP Train The Trainer

MEWP trainers have a lot more to cover after the ANSI standards revision of June 2020.  Trainers must now complete a site hazard inspection and fall protection plan prior to training.  We cover how to do these things, so they can cover them with your operators during their training.  Approximately 85% of MEWP accidents are caused by operator error; we can help your trainers to ensure your operators make better decisions to protect their lives and the lives of those working around them.  We don’t put an expiration date on your training like many providers, so they can continue to train for you well into the future without additional expense to your company.
